Welcome To Epworth Preschool

Epworth Preschool, located in Rehoboth Beach, has been known as one of the most successful, reputable and respected early childhood programs in the community since 1987.   We have been voted “Best Preschool Downstate” by readers of Delaware Today Magazine and are celebrating our 33rd year in 2020! We are a ministry of Epworth United Methodist Church and incorporate devotions into our curriculum through age-appropriate songs, games and stories.  Children say grace before snack time and begin and end their day with poems/prayers.

At Epworth Preschool, our goal is to provide a positive, safe and age-appropriate learning experience for each individual child.  Our approach is hands-on teaching through art, free play, gross motor skills, outdoor activities, dramatic play, Spanish and various science and math activities.   Children graduate from our program with exceptional kindergarten readiness skills and a strong foundation for their future educational experiences.

RE-OPENING UPDATE: September, 2020
After careful review of the ramifications of the Cape Henlopen School District COVID-19 policy on our staff and facility, the Epworth Preschool Board has made the difficult but necessary decision to postpone opening Epworth Preschool until January, 2021. Throughout the summer, we have been working tirelessly under the new COVID-19 guidelines to open safely this fall while maintaining the quality program that Epworth Preschool is known for.  However, during these preparations, the ripple effect of Cape Henlopen’s hybrid opening policy on our staff and facilities necessitates a delay in our opening until January, 2021, at the earliest.
Our plan is to offer interactive , age-appropriate activities to every child enrolled in our program, through our FB page and website. More information about this will be sent home once we establish an appropriate curriculum for each age group.
Although we currently have a lengthy wait list for our classes, your registration fee secures your child’s space in our program when we are able to re-open.
This delayed opening of the 2020-21 school year is yet another unpredictable chapter in our community struggle to keep everyone safe during the COVID-19 crisis that began in March.  During this unprecedented pandemic, our top priority remains the health and safety for our preschool families and staff, We feel this decision is in keeping with that safety priority.
